The BAPIO Training Academy (BTA) is proud to welcome Dr. Kandaswamy Krishna as a new faculty member for the UK-based MRCS Programme. Dr. Krishna brings with him extensive clinical expertise, a passion for teaching, and a strong commitment to shaping the next generation of surgeons.

Dr. Krishna holds an outstanding portfolio of qualifications, including MBBS, MS, FRCSEd, PGCE (Medical Education), and FRCS. He currently serves as a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Trust, as well as a Senior Lecturer in Surgery at the University of Bristol. Beyond his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Krishna also contributes to medical education regulation in the UK as a PLAB Associate and Performance Assessor for the General Medical Council (GMC).

Reflecting on his appointment, Dr. Krishna shared:

“I am grateful to my friend and colleague Prof. Parag Singhal for the opportunity for me to join BTA as a faculty. I look forward to this role. Teaching is one of my passions. I am not what I am without my parents, family, teachers, trainers, mentors, etc. I can never ever repay the debt I owe them. In my mind, one of the ways I feel I could show my gratitude to them is to continue their ethos of teaching and pass on the torch of knowledge and skills to younger generations and colleagues by sharing what I have learnt from them and my limited knowledge, understanding, and skills. In joining the collaborative BTA as a faculty, I see another opportunity in being able to give back to the two international healthcare systems that have provided me with the foundation and opportunity to shape my career.”

At BTA, we are honoured to welcome Dr. Krishna to our faculty. His dedication to education, combined with his clinical excellence and global perspective, will make him an invaluable mentor to aspiring surgeons enrolled in the MRCS Programme.
