What is the Fast Track Programme?
This specialized scheme empowers young doctors with PG qualifications from India (MD/DNB) in various specialties to receive advanced training within the NHS-UK, enhancing their skills in medical leadership, clinical practice, and research. The NHS is renowned for its world-class healthcare system and offers exceptional training opportunities. Currently, there are significant shortages of skilled doctors at the middle-grade level in several specialties across NHS hospitals, creating a valuable opportunity for international doctors to gain hands-on experience through UK postgraduate medical training.
The BAPIO Training Academy (BTA) has partnered with the University of South Wales, the University of Bolton, and the University of Plymouth to develop this training scheme, ensuring a steady pipeline of competent, experienced doctors over the medium to long term.
Recruitment
We are seeking well-trained and experienced doctors who have completed their postgraduate medical training in English (MD/DNB) from India. Trainees will undergo an intensive online induction, followed by 4-6 weeks of hands-on clinical training in their chosen specialty at selected hospitals in India, if required. Candidates will be sponsored for GMC registration once they have achieved the necessary competencies.
This will be followed by a two-year clinical placement at the middle-grade level in their respective specialty in the UK. The training program will also include enrollment in a UK university master’s or diploma course relevant to their specialty, along with ongoing induction to the NHS working environment, facilitated by trained UK faculty. At the end of the two-year clinical placement in the UK, candidates are expected to complete their college exams and the university master’s/diploma course to be eligible for higher specialist training in the UK or to return to India if they choose.
